OPSTA 2024

The "OPSTA 2024 – IX Kerala Social Work Students Congress” was organized by Loyola College of Social Sciences in collaboration with the Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS) and held at Loyola College, Thiruvananthapuram. This year's theme focused on integrating core competencies into practice learning. The event provided social work students, educators, and professionals a platform to engage in academic discussions, exchange ideas, and network with peers across the state. Its primary aim is to connect students with a broader network of colleges, professional practitioners, and distinguished figures across various field practicums.

The Department of Social Work of KMCT Arts and Science College, participated in the Congress, contributing actively to both the academic discussions and the cultural competitions. The participation of both students and faculty enriched the Congress, as they engaged in interactive sessions and gained insights into the evolving field of social work. The students and faculty attended various sessions throughout the Congress, including street play, theme dance, the best social work competition, and logo presentation. Their performances were well-received and highly appreciated. Competing among participants from 39 colleges our students secured second and third places state-wide in the dance and street play competitions, centred on the themes of “cultural diversity” and “human rights”
